Web Conference Overview

I participated in the EDLD 5352 web conference on March 2, 2011.  I was apprehensive about if all of my equipment would work, but I logged on fine with no problems.  I had read some of the transcripts from some of the other web conference sessions and it can be hard to follow what was actually discussed with all the side conversations that go on.  I have to say with this session it was more focused on the course information, which was great since it is required that we participate.

A lot of the students had questions about the weekly overviews and the assignments.  You could tell many had frustrations with all the constant changes, it makes it difficult to work ahead, when the opportunity prevents itself because a student was expecting a baby soon. It was during this discussion that I, along with several others, found out that there had been a change to the Week 2 assignment.  A lot of the students had not received an updated copy of the overview so this news came as a surprise.  I ask the instructor, would we have to start over if we had already begun the presentation with the Star Chart information.  I was informed that I could just add on the E-rate information to the presentation, but I chose to start over.  Good thing.

Overall it was not as bad as I thought it would be.  I was hoping to see some of the members in my discussion board group, so I could put a face with a name.
